Not sure if this is where I should pose the question....why is it that the AdBak fee is higher for those that reside outside of the US in spite of electronic communication removing the added cost of printing and posting and payment received is in dollars whilst the exchange rate is absorbed by the payer?  Thanking you in advance for the clarification... This is the perfect place to ask what is a very good question!

When we set the AdBak price at the beginning of the term, we were still discussing transitioning from paper only to (we hope) mostly* electronic publications.  Our group's behavior is really hard to predict, so we will have to see how many people opt in to continue receiving print copies before we can assess the financial impact over the 2-year term.  We hope that most of our members will see how wasteful (and slow) print copies are and that more Brats will choose to participate in supporting ABI now that an online directory is available.  (Historically, only about 15% of our membership has been helping to cover the cost of the organization's overhead.)

The board will reevaluate at the beginning of the next board term (November 1, 2011) to see how much cost savings and increased participation were realized and set the rate for the next 2 years accordingly.  It's really up to all of our fellow Brats now!

*We will still have several mail-outs even to those who prefer receiving their newsletter electronically, e.g. ballots and directories.

Ad is no longer necessary. Pure profit taking. It was original to support Reunions and directory. Both are now self supporting and adbak should be on a donation basis now. Never was intended to be a permanent feature.
