I have recently learned that Brad Heising (1943-2010) passed away last year in his beloved adopted home of New Zealand, succumbing to multiple myaloma for which he had been diagnosed several years earlier. When we last communicated by e-mail, he said that he had opted for alternative medical treatment. Brad, Frank McMillin and I were great friends back in the 1950's. We all went off to Switzerland for our high school education after completing 9th grade in the Aramco RT SS school. In fact, my father worked for Mr. Heising in the Inspections Department of the RT refinery. Brad was an adventurer, conservationist, idealist, entrepreneur, and above all lover of sailing and all things pelagic. Living just across the "pond" from me here in Queensland, my wife and I had planned to visit Brad and his partner at their sprawling B&B in the hills above Golden Bay (northern most part on the south island). Alas ....

It would be terrific if someone could contribute anything about dear old Brad. One shouldn't go through life without being remembered ... hopefully, positively.

Thanks for the hard work on the new Web site! Some of you may remember my sister, Vanessa Bascom-Hoff ('79) or brother, Fritz Grueter ('83). Fritz has been best about being in touch!

My company, Le Reve, is involved in global business development with an expertise in making sure travel plans, event and important international meetings go off without a hitch.  The careful planning of these details breeds success in the business at hand.  I'm grateful for my years in Dhahran as a Brat, and for my years at TASIS that helped give me a better understanding of this diverse world we live in, and how to bridge business opportunities.

In fact, I mention ARAMCO in the attached You Tube link Le Reve Background.

I look forward to getting back in touch and to networking with this amazing group of interesting people!

    Hi everyone,

All of you may not be aware, but a fellow Aramco Brat, Muhammed Radwan has been detained by Syrian authorities during the demonstrations that have been occurring in Syria.

He was an innocent bystander and is innocent of all charges being brought upon him!  Its obvious the Syrian authorities are trying to use him as a scapegoat for the problems they are having in their country.

Pls show your support by joining the following facebook page:

    http://www.facebook.com/free.radwan?ref=ts

Here are some links to news about him over the last couple days:

    http://www.democracynow.org/2011/3/29/syria_detains_egyptian_american_accused_of

There are many more videos including several in arabic on TV channels in the middle east with his parents pleading for Muhammed's release.

    Thanks everyone for your support!

I've recently connected with several of my friends from Dhahran and that has made this holiday season very special!  The Brats website has been terrific for finding those connections.  Thanks to all who work so hard to keep the AB website going.  Would enjoy hearing from other DH'60 brats.
